I share your interest as I am one also. I have observed that most of us are rooted in Meath, Cavan, and Monaghan and the recent reference to Cork has me puzzled. The Gaelic version is Mac Giolla Seanain which means "Son of the slave of Senan", but St. Senan's roots are in the Shannon Estuary, which further adds to the confusion. We are also attached soomehow to the name "Nugent". You might like to contact Meath Heritage Centre at Mill St. Trim Co. Meath,. 046-36633.
Best wishes, Matt Gilsenan.
