I would like information on your Gilreath Reunion for 2010.
Do you know or have any information on any of the following?
My name is Emma Gilreath Chastain. My Dad was Alfred Leon Gilreath of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was born 18 May, 1911. Died 4 Mar. 1978. His mother was Emma Gilreath Died Feb. 10, 1948 17 days before I was born. She is buried at the UMC cemetery in Rock Springs, Walker County, GA. We had heard she was a full blooded Cherokee Indian. The Gilreath's were Scottish and there were a lot of Scot & Cherokee marriages . Arthur Clint Gilreath & Emma were both born in Northwest Georgia. Probably Chattooga County next to Walker County. De kalb County, & Cherokee County Alabama are in the Northeast of Alabama so they are all real close. What little we have found out is that she married Arthur Clint Gilreath in 1903 in Lafayette, Walker County, GA. in 1903. In the 1910 U.S. Census they were living in Lafayette, Georgia with 3 children Annie age 6 born 1904 Ruth age 3, Arthur. We know they were living in Chattanooga, Tennessee when his military registration on 12 Sept. 1918 he was working at the Chattanooga Railway and Light Company. They were living in the Eastlake area of Chattanooga and had 8 Children Annie Grace, Ruthie Bell, Joseph Arthur, Alfred Leon my dad,Cecil Dewitt,Charlotte Eula Mae, Garnett Lamar, Herman Leroy. We think Clint's wife Emma full maiden name may have been Emma Jenkins Hayes or Hays. We are trying to find record of her and her parents. Clint may have died in KY. or Ohio.
If you have any information you could share with us I would appreciate it.
Emma Gilreath Chastain
