I went to the NC Archives this week and looked at two estate records for H. H. Gilreath and Hilary Gilreath. The Hilary Gilreath estate record is in a folder dated 1854 and is likely the record you mention in your post. It contains only an administrators bond dated 5 Aug 1852 naming John J. Triplett and Calvin C. Jones as admininstrators. Security for the administrators were Calvin C. Jones, John J. Triplett, Joel Triplett, James Callaway, and Joshua Purnell.

The estate record for H. H. Gilreath begins with a final account of the estate dated 9 May 1872. In 1886, Nancy C. McCorkle swore an affidavit claiming that John J. Triplett had failed to give a final accounting of the estate. In his response, John J. Triplett names the deceased as Hilary H. Gilreath and names as his co-administrator C. C. Jones.

It appears from these records that H. H. Gilreath and Hilary Gilreath are the same person.
