Civil War pension - Nannie O. Gilreath, widow H. P.
In July, 1915, Nannie Oland (Mumford) Gilreath began the process of filing for a widow's pension, based on the service of Hillary Patten (H. P.) Gilreath in the 1st Georgia Cavalry.
In her statement, filed in Ruston, LA, Nannie states that H. P. died in Forth Worth, Texas on November 15,1904.Nannie further states that she was married to H. P. on May 28, 1860 in Casseville, GAand that she has never remarried.At the time of filing, Nannie had lived in Louisiana for 8 years and was 70 years old.
The record of Nannie includes statements signed by R. L. Griffin and J. H. (James Hugh) Gilreath, both of Bartow County, GA, certifying that H. P. had served.
Note:James H. Gilreath served as a Lieutenant in Company "G" and Company "J" for most of the War and was a first cousin of H. P.
