Hi . I have been researching PS Gilmore the Bandleader for the last few years and I am also a collector of all things related to Gilmore and his Career . In regards his date of birth , it is most definitely 25th Dec 1829 , but in Ballygar , Co Galway , not near Dublin or Mullingar etc .You may be also aware that his middle name was Stephen not Sarsfield {his adopted stage name }. The US academics have done limited forensic research on Gilmore and his career , and he has been all but forgotten . Here in Ireland we have no knowledge of him , his life and contributions to both the US and Ireland . 2 books were written about Gilmore 1. The Irish Orpheus by Marwood Darlington {1950 Philadelphia Press } and 2 . P S Gilmore by Rusty Hammer {2006} Both books will give you a good idea about Gilmore however his career is bigger than portrayed in each . Gilmore had a large family , his mother died and is buried in Nebraska for example , however if anyone feels that there is a story related to their family and Gilmore please let me know at my research email address .I am writing a book on Gilmores life and family .
