If the 1828 marriage date is correct for Winston, then the 1830 Winston, who appears to be the one who was orphaned, is definitely not the Winston who married in that year as he would have been too young.A possibility is that the Winston who married in 1828? was a father to the young Winston and he died before 1830. The would still rule him out as the father of your Martha as he disappeared before she was born.
I've wondered who the other younger children in the 1830 household for Winston were.Could they have been siblings.If so, why aren't they mentioned as orphans in court records like Winston.
I know very little about Kentucky other than several Gilmore families moved there from VA and NC.
Did Winston's guardian's surname click on any lights?Sometimes tracking people associated with the desired surname can lead you to clues.
Winston is a rare name.I've not seen it anywhere else so far in MS except in Amite Co.Good luck in your search.I'll let you know if I run into anything I think might interest you.Janet
