Hello Dolores,
I believe I am "somewhat" familiar with this family, John Gilmore b early 1700's m Agness (Anderson?).I say somewhat because I've seen several conflicting genealogies on them. It's believed that this John Gilmore is one of three brothers who came to America via Ireland. He and his wife died in Augusta Co., Va I think in 1759 in an Indian raid.(I'm going from memory here). The Virginia records of this time document this family well, but unfortunately the Gilmore's named throughout the generations werepartial to the names William, John, and James so it's very hard to tell which William, John, and James goes with which family. So far it's been down right impossible. To add to the confusion, there seems to be other Gilmore families in the area plus a Gilmer family, all favoring the names of William, John, and James.(I'm learning to hate those names!!!!!!!!)Related names mentioned with these Williams, Johns, and James help a little but not much.Anyway, it's possible that my John Gilmore b c1710 of Albmarle Co., VA m Jane Heard is a part of these Gilmores of Augusta Co., VA, but then again, it's possible that he's not.I just don't know, and so far I've found no evidence to support a connection. If you want to know more about what I have on the John Gilmore m Agness (Anderson?) Then email me with your questions.I love sharing.Janet
