Hi Cal, I found an old Genforum posting for Georgianna Gillis by a Julie Chisnell in 1999 (see below). She gives Robbinston, Maine as birth location of Georgianna (which is where the family was found in the 1860 census). However, she names the father of Georgianna as "William" -- but since Georgianna never knew her real father, Roderick Gillis, and was raised by William Meagher, that is an understandable error (especially since in obituaries it is children and grandchildren who provide the information, and they may have known Georgianna's stepfather as "grampa William", and hence thought it was her father). Julie Chisnell also lists the same six children as was on the 1881 census of Duncan & Georgianna in Ontario: GENFORUM - 1999 by Julie Chisnell "I am searching for information about the family of Duncan Campbell Davidson, possibly born in Maine around 1848. He married Georgianna Gillis, in Maine (or possibly Ontario Canada). According to her obituary she was born in 1856 in Robbinston ME to William and Ellen Gillis. Duncan and "Anna" moved to Ontario Canada then to Huntington Co IN in 1881. They had 11 children, the first six born in Canada: Belle, Ellen Augusta, Julia Ambeizine, Anna, Sarah, John Kenneth, William Alexander, Josephine Irene, Mabel Agnes, Alice Georgianna, and Hazel Dewey Davidson. I would be happy to share what information I have been able to piece together." ****************** Also, in the 1930 census Index, 'Anna' Davidson is listed as born in ca 1853 Maine: 1930 US Census Index Anna Davidson,Indianapolis,Marion Co.,IN b.abt1853 Maine This could mean that Roderick Gillis did die in Maine, not in New Brunswick....
