John Allen Gillis-1834 New Brunswick?

I'm looking for relatives or information on John Allen Gillis (1834-1920) and his wife Elizabeth Searles (1836-1916). According to family tradition, they were both born in Edinburg, Scotland, but I question that. At least one of their children, John Allen, (my ggrandfather) was born in Campobello, New Brunswick, Canada. The children of John and Elizabeth were:
