With the help of others,I have recently learned that my great grandparents Angus Gillis and Isabella Mac Donell arrived in Cape Breton in 1826.They worked a farm in Strath Lorne(Rear Broad Cove).Angus, assuming he was living at the time of his youngest son's birth, died between 1848 and the time of the 1871 Census.Isabella passed away between 1881 and 1891.Their children Catherine,Allan, and James were unmarried.Angus Jr married a Beaton. My grandfather,Ronald, married Mary Gillis the daughter of Archibald Gillis and Mary Mac Lellan. In July,I am looking forward to visiting Canada for the first time, where I will have the pleasure of the Broad Cove Music Festival. While in Inverness County I hope to learn more of my ancestors from local sources. If anyone has a suggestion as to where I might look, your advice would be most welcome. Neil F. Gillis Sunderland,Massachusetts Notify Administrator about this message?
