Melanie,

You are right, there is a lot of misinformation out on the internet that does not agree or make sense. I have seen most of it. I am the GGGG Grandson of Alexander James Gillliland. Alexander's John was born January 1, 1774 and died in Redoak Ohio on 19 (Nov/Dec -- I need my notes as to which one) 1843. I have seen his stone in the Redoak Presbyterian Church Cemetery so I know where he is buried. Jacob is not on the stone, so it may be that the John Jacob born January 1, 1772 belongs to someone else. I have a copy of Alexander James will of 1795 who names his children and divides his estate. What does the will you have found say about John? I am interested in John 1764 also, and would like to about your John and Charity. I have a great deal more about these lines, What are your concerns?
