Hi Kim.I am not sure that we are related but I have Gillies relatives from Skye in my family tree:my great-great-grandfather's cousin Flora Ross(born 1866 in Grealine,Skye, died 1944 in Sartle ,Skye) married John Gillies. He was the son of Archibald Gillies(cattle dealer) and Isabella Ross, and died in 1954(in Sartle) aged 96.Their children were:
-Archibald Gillies
-Maggie Ann born 1902,died 1926 Sartle
-Isabella born 1897,died 1922
-Roederick John Gillies.
There are a lot of Gillies graves in a graveyard off the road from Brogaig to Flodigarry(instead of going north ,you follow the Brogaig river).Sartle and the graveyard are near Staffin in north east Skye(Trotternish).
I hope this will help.If you go to Skye ,you can do some research in the Registrar's Office in Portree(only from 1850 onwards).
