Thanks for replying to my letter with regards to the scotish tune "Kenny Gillies of Portnalong" this was actually composed for my Dad's first cousin "Kenny Gillies" who was a grandson of my Ggfather Kenneth Gillies who I originally wrote about. The tunes namesake Kenny Gillies stayed in Portnalong (Isle of Skye) which has been the Gillies family home since 1922 but sadly he passed away a year ago. The tune was composed for him by a friend during the last World War and it is a family favourite.
Does your husband have any connections with the Isle of Skye or the Isle of Harris?
Hope to hear from you again.
