I have the following notes that I
made from The Colonial Records of
North Carolina, Vol I-1662 to 1712
(VI, 297)
Gillam, Benj. January 31, 1679, sworn
statement by Solomon Summers regarding
events related to Culpepper Rebellion.
Refers toCapt. Zach. Gilliam, ship
captain.Also refers to his son
Benjamin Gilliam who was captain of
a ship carrying tobacco to New England.

My GILLIAM ancestors were keen on
naming first sons for the paternal grandfather. This might be a clue that
Zachariah's son Benjamin may have been
named for Zachariah's father.
