I should note here that in post 149 on this forum, Katie ___ mentioned that the marriage between Wm Jackson and Abigail Gilliam took place in "Montgomery, Salisbury, NC," and that Abigail's father was William Gilliam. Maybe that was on the marriage bond?

I'm not clear about the place of marriage mentioned in that post. Katie refers to "Montgomery" as if it were a town in "Salisbury County," but North Carolina has no Salisbury County, and the town of Salisbury is in Rowan County. Montgomery County is nearby. Which ever place was meant, perhaps it would be useful to see if Abigail's father appears on tax lists there at times when there is only one William Gilliam on the Halifax lists.
