The stone for Elizabeth Gilliam who was the second wife of William Trogdon (1774-1864) has been identifed in the old Trogdon Cemetery, Randolph Co. NC.
It reads:
E TRO
W B APRIL
1778
D JU 1849
This was confirmed by the US Federal Mortality Schedules 1850-1880 on which she is listed with the June 1849 death date.
She is believed to be the daughter of John Gilliam but this is unproved. However, a John Gilliam was on the marriage bond in 1805, Randolph Co. NC.
