John Henry Gilliam, b. VA, and Melissa apparently moved back and forth between AR and Bolivar Co. (Cleveland), MS.He d. in AR abt 1896; Melissa d. bet 1852-1870, probably MS- Pontotoc Co?Children were:
James C. Gilliam, Jan. 1838, b. AR
Joseph Guyer Gilliam. b. abt 1839, b. AR
Albert M. - b. Apr 1841, MS (Union/Pontotoc Co.?)
Nancy Frances Gilliam - b. abt 1844-1845, MS (Union/Pontotoc Co.?)
Martha - b. abt 1847, MS
Eliza Mildred - b. abt 1850, b. MS (Union/Pontotoc co.?)
John H. Gilliam - b. Apr 1851, MS, mar. Lucindy?
William - b. abt 1862, AR
In 1870 I found in Bearhouse Twp, Drew Co., AR, J. Gilliam, age 62, b.VA, and in household:Leila, age 48, female, b. IL (wife?); Eliza M. b. MS - female, age 19 (dau. Eliza Mildred, b. abt 1850), and William, male, age 8, b. AR--therefore, I believe that perhaps this LEILA might be a second wife as the age would not be correct for Melissa Busby, who was b. abt 1818 in MS.Thus, the child William, age 8 might be Leila's child? In 1850 the family is in Pontotoc Co., MS.However, if the older 2 children were b. in AR, they obviously were in AR about 1840. A search for John Henry Gilliam in 1860 and this family did not find them.My question is how do you lose a family that large?
Any information on the above and/or their descendants will be appreciated.Thank [email protected]
