Just to add a little more confusion to this name I recieved this info on my clements Side of the family
Greensville September Court 1801.
>This Will was proved by the oath of Samuel JOHNSON witness thereto and
>ordered to be recorded.
>And on the Motion of Bolling CHAMBLISS one of the Executors therein named who
>made Oath thereto and with Lucy CHAMBLISS, his security entered into and
>acknowledged Bond in the Penalty of Five Thousand Dollars with condition as
>the Law directs Certificate was granted him for obtaining a Probate thereof
>in due form.
> Teste P. PELHAM
>C.G.C.
>
> +8 vii. Henry Jr. CHAMBLISS (born on March 5, 1768).
> +9 viii. Agnes CHAMBLISS (born on February 5, 1769).
> +10 ix. Mark CHAMBLISS (born on April 25, 1771).
> +11 x. James CHAMBLISS (born on March 6, 1773).
>
>He was married to Mary JOHNSON (daughter of Moses JOHNSON) on July 6, 1773 in
>Prince George Co., VA. Mary JOHNSON was born in April 1738 in Prince George
>Co., VA. She died on December 15, 1778 in Prince George Co., VA. Henry
>CHAMBLISS and Mary JOHNSON had the following children:
>
> +12 i. Rebecca CHAMBLISS (born on June 5, 1774).
> +13 ii. Lewis CHAMBLISS (born on August 10, 1776).
> +14 iii. John CHAMBLISS (born on March 15, 1778).

This info is from the family bible of Chaney Clements Chambliss sister in law to Lewis Chambliss,I would hazard a guess thatLewis is named for his uncle Lewis Johnson, son of Moses Johnson ,Lewis married into the Ezell Family
