Gillham/Gilham
Hello:
I'm Herb Gillham, amateur genealogy researcher. I've been researching the family name for about 16 years. My earliest known ancestor is Thomas Gillham, Sr. Some of his descendants adopted the Gilham spelling of the name - especially some of those who moved to and remained in the deep south. Most of those descended from a son, Ezekiel who spelled his name both Gillham and Gilham. He spent many years of his life in the Lexington, Oglethorpe County, Georgia area. It is believed he died andwas buried there sometime in 1800.
Thomas, Sr.'s other children were Charles, Mary, Nancy, Sarah, Susannah, Thomas, Jr., James, William, John (my 2nd generation ancestor), and Isaac.
I would enjoy hearing from any Gillhams or Gilhams willing to share their knowledge of their ancestors so I could add them to my database consisting of over 50,000 names. Not all of these are descendants of Thomas, Sr., but I try to compile as much data as possible in hopes that some day, I may find ties between some of these lines.
You can e-mail me or if you'd like, snail mail me at the following address:
Herb Gillham, 2700 Highway 67 (Missouri Avenue)
Granite City, Illinois 62040
I would be happy to share any of my knowledge of Gillhams/Gilhams with any and all who might be interested.
Sincerely,
Herb Gillham
