JoAnn, I haven't looked on the Gillette Forum for a long time, but read your message today. Martin D. and Jemima Bramlet Gillette were my g g grandparents. I, too, have seen Celinda's son, Wakeman, listed in their household. Martin D. died in 1876, so, no doubt, he raised Wakeman. I have a copy of a handwriten family record that lists Martin and his wives and their children. One child is Wakeman Stewart, Born Oct. 17, 1838. It seems Martin considered Wakeman as his own. I have his third wife listed as Hester J. Abbot--that is what is on family records. My great grandfather, Joseph E. Gillette came to Mo. with a group, probably Jemima's relatives. He told family members that he couldn't get along with Hester. He, apparently, was very close to Martin and Celinda's daughter, also named Celinda. He went back up and visited her at a later time. Have you gone on the Bramlet (Bramlett) web? It is great, has cemetery records, old public records, etc. http://www.bramblett.com I have a lot of fun exploring it. Celinda is mentioned a lot. Also, years ago, I wrote to someone in El Dorado--county archives, maybe--and she found a record of Martin D. Jr. and it told that he had surveyed the streets of El Dorado. There is probably a lot of info to be had there. I'm sure someone there knows about the Stewarts. I have gone to El Dorado, but would love to go back and visit the graves (I have records of where a lot of them are buried) and look through old records. Did I mention earlier that I have a studio portrait of Martin D. Jr.? A really great picture! Lyn Sellers Notify Administrator about this message?
