In Reply to: Gillett Researcher: Flora Clark by Tom Gillett of 1228

I came across the Flora Clark papers in the Onondaga County Library, Syracuse, NY while looking for my
Gillett relatives. Thankfully, Carol Laun of the Salmon Brook Hist. Soc. in
Granby Ct helped straighten out my Gilletts (WEALTHY PERMELIA7 GILLETT
(RODOLPHUS6, NATHAN5, OTHNIEL4, NATHAN3, ELIAS2, NATHAN1).

The Flora Clark collection lists no publisher, has no index or table of
contents, just "The Gillett genealogy, Flora Clark, Elkins Grove Pa, 1963".
The work is 5 bound volumes of typewritten pages. The first two vols deal
with the descendants of Jonathan Gillett, the 3rd deals with the desc. of
Nathan. Vols. 4&5 are a compilation of gillett stats by state, eg. there
are about 100 pages of info on CT.
In the 1st 3 Vols (genealogies) she shows a family and lists her sources at
the bottom, for example, the family of Othniel Gillet (b. 1715) has 'The
Dewey Gen, pgs. 750, 731, 737.' and 'The Goodwins of Hartford, CT." at the
bottom of the page.

Vols. 4&5 lists Gillett stats by state. There are abt. 100 pages on CT
showing the Barber index;
CT probate records which consists of (very) short abstracts by town, eg.
"Granby Prob. Dist. Truman Gillett will 23 June 1873, son Adison Daus Emily
Terry wife of Roswell, Adaline Goddard, wife of Leqnoard Godard, grdson
Henry Godard."
Ct. cemeteries, Gillett burials, by cemetery location.

She also has stats on NY, MA, PA, IL, OH and probably others.

For the dedicated Gillett researcher, Floras work would be a
goldmine, unfortunately, there is no easy way to look things up other than
pouring through the information page by page in search of a connection. As
far as sources, vols. 4&5 could probably be figured out by the listing,
When she lists the burials in the West Granby cemetery, I'm assuming that
there is a record for West Granby cemetery.

I have no idea if this collection would be available or where one might
inquire about purchasing this set. There is no doubt though, that they are
an invaluable resource.
