Kathi ~ I have a little info on Capt John Gillet (21 May 1756). He served in the Rev., enlisting in Litchfield Co., CT in the 8th Regt. in 1777. He went into camp at Peekskill in Spring of 1777 & fought at Germantown 4 Oct 1777. After the battle of Germantown, he spent the winter of 1777-8 with Washington at Valley Forge. He married 16 Dec 1777, Mercy Benedict, b. 25 Sep 1755 (according to 1st Church of Christ, Norfolk, CT), who married 2nd, Samuel Hoar. (Her will dated 10 Aug 1844) d. 2 Oct 1846. Both buried Gillett Cem. on lot 84 Coldbrook, Scott Twp., NY. He was a member of 1st Church of Christ, Norfolk, CT, 19 Jan 1800. Pension Record W18035.
