I have seen the bear Bible in the Museum in Windsor Conn. It was told to me, that it got it's name because the Bible was in a window, possibly to prop it open and a bear, possibly smelling food from inside, tried to get in the house, and slapped at the book, probably trying to get into the window and left the claw marks through the papes of the
bible. Thus its name "Bear Bible" I do have a picture of it. It is sealed in a case, but was able to photograph through the glass. There was also a chest that came over on the same boat. This museum Has much history on the Gylet family. Ruth
