In the 1825 NY State census there are two Michael Gillets in Steuben Co., NY--father and son, born in New Hartford CT. Michael Sr. was married to (2) Polly Crandall in 1815; he had been married (1) to Esther Bradley in CT in 1782. Michael Jr. moved hs family to Eaton Rapids, Eaton Co, MI in the late 1830s. I'm trying to verify Michael Jr's children: Allen Bradley, Minerva, Sarah Chapin, Miles, Matthew, Isaac, Chauncey, William Henry, Harvey--and possibly Ed, Fred and Frank. Minerva may have been in Barre, Orleans Co, NY in 1850 at the same time Miles and William were there.
