William Gillette/Gillett was married to Elizabeth Welch in Milford, CT in 1722, and they had CHILDREN THERE, and TODAY THERE ARE DESCENDANTS. Unproven theory makes this William the son of John Gillette/Gillett & Sarah Tryon of Wethersfield, CT, and an equally unproven tradition has it that he came to Connecticut from France as an adult, and that in France he was a Huguenot pastor. Someone needs to "crack" this case. It has been a vexing "unsolved mystery" for many years. Varying traditions have assigned him the occupations of clergyman, medical doctor, and blacksmith at Milford. MORE info on this whole branch is at http://gillettegenealogy.tripod.com If you have anything to add, or if you are kin to this bunch, please post a reply. I get an email notification if someone replies to this post. Thanks. Notify Administrator about this message?
