“Martin Truman [1778-1823] married widow Catherine (Gillett) Miller and moved from New York to land near London, Madison County, Ohio; his widow married a third time after Martin's death. David Bates Stockton [1818-1885] married Lucy Ann Truman in 1844 in Madison County, Ohio.” [1] The 1810 Census shows "M" Truman listed in Butternuts, Otsego Co., NY. [2] aged 26-45, along with his wife and two girls under 10. These two girls are apparently the children of Catherine (Gillett) Miller and Mr. Miller. Also listed in this census are B. S. Gillett [2011-1111] "Widow" Gillett. [3] Hannah Gillett, wife of Nathan, died 12 November 1825 at age 85 y, 1m, 6d, and was buried in the Westville Baptist Churchyard. [4] Also buried in this cemetery is Anna Gillett, wife of Aaron, who died 16 July 1838 at age 66. Another researcher has indicated that Nathan Gillett is Nathan5 (Nathaniel4 , Nathaniel3, Joseph2, Jonathan1) Gillett, b. 28 Feb 1742/43; and that Hannah Gillett is Hannah Stone. [5] Can anyone link Catherine (Gillett) (Miller) Truman, wife of Martin Truman, to any of the Gillett family in Otsego Co., NY around 1810? Does anyone have documentation that links the Otsego Co., NY family to the Connecticut Gillett families? The Truman/Tremain family came originally from Westfield, Mass, where descendants of Isaac Gillett also appear. While it may be coincidental, I wonder if the Gillett and Tremain families were migrating together. Is there documentation to connect the family of Otsego Co., NY to any one of the numerous branches that descend from Nathan and Jonathan Gillett, immigrants to New England 1633? Any help would be appreciated. ---------------------------------------- [1] Parkin, Flo N. The relationship of these people, as well as the man named David Gillett who appears as head of household in 1820 (p. 31a; 110010-10100) is undetermined. The Will Index shows John Gillett died, testate in 1810, so is presumably the husband of the "widow Gillett." Surrogate Court Liber C:42, not examined).
