Ron,
I'm wondering if the Wheeler Gillett in your message had a son named Jedediah?

My Gillet ancestor is Hannah Mary (or Mariah) Gillet b. in Vermont ca 1816, who married John Shipman; they lived in Madison Twp., Guernsey Co., Ohio.

It appears that her father was Jedediah Gillet, although that is not yet confirmed. Likely children of Jedediah: Phoeba A. b. VT ca 1814
Juliana b. VT ca 1815 m. Samuel Thomas
Hannah M. b. VT ca 1816 m. John Shipman
Morndance(?) b. VT ca 1818 m. William Helm
Mary Jane b. VT ca 1819 m. Lewis Shipman
Isaac P. b. VT ca 1823 m. Mary
Eliza b. VT ca 1827
son m. Margaret (widowed w/son Jedediah)
and at least two more sons and two more daughters

I have found Jedediah's census record in 1820 and 1830 in Charlotte Twp., Chittenden Co., Vermont and in 1840 in Madison Twp., Guernsey Co., Ohio. He was born between 1780 and 1790, by his age in the census records.

There was a Wheeler Gillett in 1810 in Charlotte Twp., Chittenden Co., Vermont and in 1830 in Madison Twp., Guernsey Co., Ohio; in both cases, he is on the same page as, and within a house or two of Jedediah's home. He appears to be born between 1770 and 1780 according to his age in the census records. He also evidently died before 1840, and his widow then lived with the son Horace. Wheeler's children (Wheeler Jr., William, Horace, others) were born in Maryland and Virginia in the 1815-1820s time frame, so he was in the wrong place at the time to be the father of my Hannah. But could he be an uncle?

If you are still out there, could you let me know whether Jedediah is one of the 8 children you have listed and whether I may contact you for additional background on the Gillet(t) ancestors? Thank you!
