Thank you very much, Karen, but I doubt this is my direct line as it looks like my William was born in 1802/3 in Ky. He could be the younger brother or a nephew of Henry Smith of Texas fame. This is looking more and more like the case.

When a Smith case gets hot it burn in your soul because the leads are few and far between. I have been researching my entire genealogy for about 16 years now and still haven't got any further than my g-grandfather Henry White Smith. Of course there are family rumors but nothing to sink your teeth in to for a good bite, smile.

Family trandition says it goes Henry White Smith b. 1835 Franfort, Franklin, Ky> William Smith Jr.> and William Sr.
