I just saw your posting, sorry for the delay. My William was born 1824 in Bradford Co. Pa, I BELIEVE. My first solid document is his marriage to Wealthy Clark in Jonesboro, Grant Co. Indiana and 1850 census in Indiana. She and her family were born in Bradford Co.Pa. Based on timeing and names, I believe his father was Freeman Gillett of Bradford Co. Pa. Freeman was tied to the family of Zadoc and Warren Gillett who moved to Bradford Co. pa in about 1815 from Hampshire Co. Mass. Two other possibles for Williams parents are, The Charles Gillett b 1762, family sons are Charles M. b 1762, William F.b 1799, Philander P. b 1793 any of which timing wise could work. The other possible is Jedidiah(Jedikiah) whose son John was married in Jonesboro, Grant Co. Indiana about 1850(same town and time as William).
Anyway this is a lot of wild speculation, hope, etc. Don't know where you are in your search, but your names sound alot like the the Charles line from "The Gilletts"by Bertha Bortle Beale which you have probably seen. If not let me know and I can refer you or look up from some of it I have.
