He might be a grandson of Allen (Jan 30 1798 - Jun 10, 1881) but when you look at Allen's eight children the four girls would have changed names (Mary, Catherine, Josephine and Minerva) and son Lafayett (b. 1833) is on the 1880 census but his wife is not from Mississippi, (as was Claude's Mother on the 1900 Census); and the same holds true for Hugh (b. 1839), His wife was Amelia T (Quick?) living with his mother-in-law and all from GA. James W looks either not to of married, and living single, although he could have married late. This only leaves Samuel Jerome (b. 1846). It could be him, BUT he died in 1880. That accounts for Allen's eight children. Do you know of more? Also I was curious, who do you show for Allen's father (1763) or grandfather (Abt 1727) ??? Just like genealogy answer one question and find two more. I know the father, but only have a good idea for the grandfather. What are your thoughts and papers on this show? Hope this helps. My line runs through Alexander James Gilliland (1737-1795) but he is very close by so I had to check this one out to be sure we don't meet a further ways back. Good luck on your search!
Paul M. Gilliland
