Kurt, I'm not sure if you have the right family or not as I have only one contact pertaining to this line. His name is Mel Critchlow, New Orleans, LA, <melandkat@earthlink.net>. Please contact Mel and let me know what you two come up with.
Mel is descended from Goldie. He wrote to me, "I have my grandmother, Goldie May Gilham's, marriage certificate. She was married on 11 December 1911 at the age of sixteen in Epson, Daviess Co., IN, to William Thomas Critchlow. She was born 25 December 1894, in Linton, Greene Co., IN. On the marriage certificate, she stated that her father was Henry Leroy Gilham, born in Harrison Co., IN, and that he was deceased before 1911. Her mother was Florance O'Haver who was born in Knox Co., IN. I think Goldie had a brother, Homer M. Gilham. I spoke to his daughter, Betty Ruth, and she agrees."
Mel and I discussed the possiblity that his Henry Leroy Gilham might be the same fellow as "Henry A. Gilham" I have listed in my database who was the son of James & Mary (Kintner) Gilham. James was the son of Levi and Elizabeth (Boucher) Gilham.
James migrated from Harrison Co., IN, to Knox Co., IN, where he was enumerated with his family in 1880. His son, Henry, age 28, was enumerated with him at that time. That would put his year of birth circa 1852. Henry Leroy Gilham's year of birth was circa 1860. Since we don't know either of their actual year of birth, we think he might be the same fellow.
Perhaps Mel could shed some light on your Gilham grandmother. He might have something that would give you the connection you need to his ancestor, Goldie.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
