Hi Marcy:
I'm the former genealogist for the Hot Springs, AR branch of Gillhams, although my line of Gillhams descends from a 1/2 brother ancestor of Jacob.
I'll try to give you a little background on your Gillham ancestors. JacobGilham/Gillham (sometimes enumerated as Jacob Clemons, although he supposedly never signed his name that way was one of the children of Ezekiel Gillham/Gilham and Sarah Clements.
Ezekiel, believed born around 1732 and died around 1800 was the 2nd son of Thomas Gillham, Sr., our earliest known ancestor.
Thomas, Sr., his sons, Charles, Ezekiel, (by his first wife, Mary Meade), and Thomas, Jr., James, William, John (my 2nd generation ancestor) and Isaac (by his 2nd wife, Margaret Campbell), plus his grandson Jacob all served with South Carolina Troops during the Revolutionary War. He also had daughters, Mary and Nancy by his first wife and Sarah and Susannah by his second wife. There may have been other grandsons who were involved in the Revolutionary war too, but as of now, Jacob is the only one about whom I have any knowledge.
If you would be so kind, I would appreciate your sending me an update on yourself, your family, descendants and ancestors so I could update my database.
I use Family Tree Maker, version 8.0 as my genealogy program. I have a database of around 46,000 names, about 26,000 of whom are either direct descendants of or kin of descendants of Thomas. Sr.
I'll look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Herb Gillham, 2700 Highway 67 (Missouri Ave), Granite City, IL 62040-2029.
