Edward, it's been a while since i've done any research on the Gilbreaths but i'm in touch with a cousin who lives in Tyler Tx. she is related to me not only through the Gilbreath's but also on my Carden family. through Mary Ann Carden who married William Calvin Gilbreath.

we have found an ALEXANDER GILBREATH, he married a POLLY BROWN, this Polly Brown was the dau. of CHIEF JOHN BROWN, of the Creek Path area of Alabama, which is around the Sand Mountain, area close to Fort Payne.
we haven't been able to connect this Alexander with our Baxter Gilbreath yet, but it's possbile they could have been brothers or either cousins.

Edward J. Ladd who wrote the book GONE TO ALABAMA , told another relative of mine that my gggrandmother, CHELNESSA DOHERTY LEETH CAMPBELL, who was also related to Edward was AT LEAST 1/2 Indian maybe more.

my gggrandfather JOHN CARDEN was 1/2 Cherokee, but we've no written proof. again it wasn't talked about.

Elisa Sanford
