I found a listing in a book called, " A collection of Upper South Carolina Genealogical and Family Records".
I found a Samuel Gilbert born in either Md. or Va. in 1752.
and died in Madison Co. Ky. 1820
A letter from a lady in Lawrenceburg Ky. was trying to find him in old 96 district SC.
He was the son of Jarvis Gilbert and Elizabeth Preston M. (I Think it should be Elizabeth M. Preston), Jarvis was the son of Gervais Gilbert and his first wife Margret ?.
Samuel had a treasury warrant for land in Madison Co. Ky.(was Lincoln when granted).
Samuel Gilbert married a second wife was Susannah Elam in 1813. They had two boys possibly twins.
I'm going to skip some things and give a few kindred names.
In Samuel's 1st will is listed William, Samuel Jr., Amelia Clements Stephens, Mary Quick, Patsy Kavanaugh, Sally Oldham, Betsy, 1st married John Gilbert, her cousin marriage Timothy Burgess. Chn. by second wife, Jarvis Elam and Jephtha Rice Gilbert (twins).
Betsy in 1850 census gives her birth as Georgia in 1783. Samuel's brothers and sisters were, Margaret B. 1736, Martha B. 1737, Garvace B. 1738, Sarah B. 1741, Preston B. 1743 married Jerimiah Cock in Bedford Co. Va. 1769, Hannah B.1755, Married Alexander Gibbs in Bedford Co. Va.

If anyone can use this info or can help me with a Francis Marion Gilbert from 1824-50 Sc/Ga please let me know and if this info helped let me know.
Jeff Gilbert
