not a descendant, here is some information from my files that I gathered along the way.

Lorenzo D. Gilbert,I believe is the father of Francis Marion Gilbert. I believe Obediah is the father of Lorenzo, not sure.

Francis Marion Gilbert & his two brothers Jasper Norman and Simeon were in Lumpkin County by the 1850 Census. It states they were born in SC, as were their parents. Also living with them in the Shoal Creek area was Martha, age 48, but she was not listed as head of household. Was she their mother, or simply another relative living with them to "keep house"?
1850 Census for Lumpkin County, GA, Shoal Creek Area: Wahoo District
Gibbert, Martha, age 48, B. SC
…………….Marion age 20, B. SC
…………….Sion age 14, B. SC (? Simeon),
…………….Jasper, age 13, B. SC b. ca 1837

all three children born in SC, so the family must have been there until about 1837-38, at least.
Francis Marion Gilbert married Mary Anna Sutton late in 1850; Francis died in Lumpkin County in 1899, and is buried at Mt. Zion #2 on Hwy. 115.their son
George Washington Gilbert married Laura Jackson in 1873. One of their daughters was Zillie Catherine Gilbert. She then married William Frank Peppers, one of their sons was Wilson Peppers.

Simeon Gilbert married Nancy Sutton, sister of Mary Anna. Simeon married Dorcas, his second wife, after Nancy (Sutton) died & moved to Habersham Co
the line of Simeon Gilbert. Simeon/William E./James Elbert/William Lamar/James Edward/Irene.

Jasper was born in Anderson District, SC on 23 Oct 1831 died 1 Oct 1901.?? does not match with census data, may be wrong person, died 30 Sep 1901 in DeKalb Co, GA, married Hannah Davis on 7 Mar 1858in Habersham Co. both he & Hannah are buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Joined Cobb's Legion from Gwinnett Co
William E. Gilbert b. Oct 1854 in Rabun Co GA. m. Sarah Welborn b. 22 Mar 1861 d. 18 Feb 1905 in Rabun Co GA.is the son of Simeon and Nancy Sutton Gilbert of Habersham Lumpkin Counties
