Per the 1850 Lumpkin co., Ga. census, Martha did say she was born in So. Carolina...as were all three of the boys with her.....going by their ages she was still in SC in 1837 when the youngest guy was born.....Found some marriages for the boys......Francis Marion Gilbert married Mary Ann Sutton in 1850 in Habersham co., Ga.
Simeon Gilbert married a Nancy Sutton in Lumpkin co., Ga. (listed in the 1847-1863 book) not sure what year......and Jasper Gilbert married Milly Hatfield 1889 in Lumpkin co., Ga.....there was even a marriage for a Martha E. Gilbert to a Thos. McElrath in 1875 in Lumpkin co. Ga... and kinda wondered if she remarried.... you might check marriage records in SO. Carolina for Gilberts who married a Martha...
