James Lamar Gilbert was born June 1827 in Putnum County GA.
He died in Birmingham, AL May 30, 1913. He is buried in Forest Hill Cemetery in Woodlawn, Birmingham, AL next to his second wife Mary Hughes Gilbert. He has no grave marker. The Cemetery records has his name as James H. Gilbert.
I am looking for anyone who knows anything about him from his birth to 1847 when he married Rebecca McClure in Marengo County AL.
I feel sure that his grandfather is Benjamin F. Gilbert Sr. married first to Hannah Butler second to Nancy McKenzie.
I can not find a link. Who were his parents.
A legal document by Edmand Butler has a letter written by Benjamin before his death in 1830 stating that in his household was an indegent daughter who had been abandoned by her husband leaving her with a 10 year old son and a son about three years of age. He did not give her name.
If anyone has any knowledge of this daughter and her sons please get in touch with me.
