I was born a Gilbert in Belfast, Northern Ireland. My Gt Grandfather was John Cannon Gilbert b. 1861/62 in Co Cork, m. Martha Jane Vogan 24-07-1889 in Belfast. John C's father was John Gilbert, a teacher, possibly in Ballina, Co Mayo (at some stage). John Cannon Gilbert may have had a brother called Alexander (witness on marriage certificate). I'm struggling to find any more information about John Gilbert , his family, and where he lived. Any help, tips, info, or websites would be greatly appreciated.
