Stella Maye Gilbert, 89, of Jefferson City, TN, passed
away on Monday, April 13, 2009 at Jefferson Memorial
Hospital.
She was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church since 1941, a
member of Golden Nuggets of Strawberry Plains, and an
employee of Magnavox for 23 years.
She was preceded in death by husband, Hugh J. Gilbert;
parents, Jeff and Mary Brown Scott; son, Hugh J. (Pickle)
Gilbert, Jr.; granddaughter, Catherine Louise Gilbert;
brothers, Billy, Bob, Mitchell, and John Scott; and sister,
Molly Woods.
She is survived by son, Thomas E. 'Gene' Gilbert and wife,
Bettie of Kingsport, TN; daughters, Mary Hammer and Dorothy
Fay Kimbrough; daughter-in-law, Patsy Gilbert, all of
Jefferson City, TN; grandchildren, Thomas Gilbert, Jr.,
Scott Gilbert, Laura Reneau, Amanda Finley-Barnes, Jeannie
Beltz, Tracy Hammer, Tony Morgan, and Bobby Morgan; twenty
great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter;
brothers, Hubert Scott and Herbert Scott; sister, Ruby C.
(Bruce) Watson; sister-in-law, Nellie Gilbert Cockrum; and
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., on
Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 15,
2009, at the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with the Rev.
R. J. Seal officiating.
Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. at Farrar Funeral
Home on Thursday morning, April 16, 2009, to proceed to
Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11 a.m. graveside
interment service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lebanon
Baptist Church Building Fund or Cemetery Fund, 7925
Greenbriar Road, Talbott, TN 37877.
Arrangements by Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City.
