Abilene Reporter News Abilene, Taylor Co., Texas July 4, 1951 Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. M. C. GILBERT celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary with a family reunion at the home of their daughter Mrs. E. L. HOLLINGSHEAD of 836 South 8th St. Their five children were present for the reunion as well as a number of grandchildren. The Gilberts had 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The children here included: Mr. and Mrs. SAM GILBERT and their two sons of Trent; Mr. and Mrs. JESSE GILBERT and their son LEE of Ponway, California and, two other sons, LOWELL of Trent and DALMAR RAY GILBERT of Spur; Mrs. HOLLINGSHEAD and her children, who included Mrs. GRANVILLE WEBB of Polosi, Mrs. G. W. BENION of Abilene, EXAFAYE and IWANDA HOLLINGSHEAD of Abilene, Mr. and Mrs. FLOYD HOLLINGSHEAD and children JERRY and DEAN of Abilene, Mr. and Mrs. CLYDE HOLLINGSHEAD and children DARLENE and WAYNE of Midland, Mr. H. L. LAQUEY and daughter of Henrietta, and Mr. and Mrs. BOBBY GILBERT of Spur. The Gilberts have lived here for the past three years. Mr. Gilbert, 87, was the first white child to be born in Eastland County. He began to work as a cowboy when he was 14 and remained at the profession, driving cattle, until he retired. Mrs. Gilbert, 86, was born in Tennessee and came to Eastland County when she was 10 years old. They lived there a number of years, later moving to Stonewall County.
