Gilbert Y-DNA Project Update
Since we're at the two year mark with the project, I thought it was time to give a project update.
We're now up to 38 participants and have identified 23 unique lines at this point. Now that the "database" has grown, we're starting to see random matches between new participants and existing participants, and there are some researchers finally climbing over those brick walls.
Here is a link to the results page where you can see the different lines that have been tested:

And here are some relatively recent developments:
-Several old U.S. Gilbert lines are now represented by multiple participants inlcuding the Garvis Gilbert line of Maryland, the Quaker line of Gilberts from the Philadelphia area, the Thomas Gilbert of Braintree, MA line, and a German/Pennsylvania Deutsch line.
- Two researchers have dealt with the unfortunate news that their genetic results don't agree with their paper trail.
-Our first African-American Gilbert line was tested
-We have our first participant trying to use DNA as a means of proving Gilbert paternity in an out-of-wedlock birth in the 1800s in England
If anyone has questions or is interested in joining, please e-mail me or visit the project website.
Cheers!
