The only Raleigh Gilbert's I have in my files were from Compton in Devonshire. I'm unaware of any grants to that branch of the Gilbert family in Virginia, as their exploration (especially later, by Humphrey Gilbert) were north of Maine. I know there was a prominent Gilbert family that settled in the south, but I've never looked into that line.

I would recommend checking Burke's Peerage or Landed Gentry for this one; it can be wildly inaccurate, but there are some traces of truth in many lines.
