You said, "By the way, once I lookedin my notes I confirmed that I know who the Ballat woman was. Her name is also given as Ballard. She is a first degree ancestor of mine. But she cannot be Prudence Gilbert's mother"
Lydia, the wife of Thomas Gilbert b 1589 was not the wife ofgd-son Thomas b bet 1655-Aug 1658, son of Jonathan whom I infer from your post to say that I had given you incorrectly (Lydia Ballard), a later generation, about whom I had not previouly referenced. I don't doubt that researchers reference both Lydia's, the older one and the younger one, as "Ballat" or "Ballard."
Both parents were alive when Prudence married Miles Morgan, supposedly at Salem, Essex, MA in 1643, which is later than 1589.However, I count only 29 years between Prudence & Thomas b 1589, and 24 (?plus) between Prudence & Lydia. And they are the ONLY PARENTS that I gave you. Perhaps you have me confused with someone else; look at the chart I posted, message #6562 if you have not read!
Lydia Ballat b 1586-1594, the dau of Samuel Ballat and Lydia Wiswall. Lydia Ballat said to have married twice before her marriage to Thomas Gilbert, to Nathaniel Bliss & Samuel Marshfield. I gleaned that neither (latter two) men lived very long after marrying Lydia Ballat.
(Since "Jonathan & Prudence" were "new" given names for Thomas b 1589, I wondered if they could have been actually the children of a previous husband. The 3rd child was named Thomas.)
It is evident that I am not able to assist you. Sorry that the time was wasted for both of us.
