Thanks to G. Pinsonfor the feedback. I, too, believed George W.'s father was David Gilbert.Sometime between 1860 and 1870, David must have moved to Etowah County, AL.He is listed in the 1870 Etowah County census as "Dave" Gilbert(age 50), wife Elizabeth (age 50), Mary (age16), Margaret (age 13); and two farm laborers.I knew George W. was born in Etowah county (1870) and this makes sense. Also, George W. and Nancy are listed in the same census with no children. This makes me believe that the date on the tombstone for William Henry is in error.I believe he was actually born in 1870, not 1869.The census was taken in June 1870 and he was born in Sept 1870.He and Nancy lived between Nancy’sparentsWesley and Mary Stockman and on the other side I believe it is Nancy’s brother Richard Stockman married to George W’s sister Cansada.
I do have some info onGeorge W., William Henry, andmy grandfather, George H.although I just started looking at this a few months ago after my mom died.

George W.(b. 2/15/1848) and Nancy Stockman Gilbert
Nancy died 1/20/1922 ( don’t know where)
Children:
All I have here is what is shown in the 1880 and 1900 census.
1880-George(31,Nancy(24), Henry 8, Triesadoria 7, Marine W. 6, Mary J 4, George L. 1
1990-George (b.1850?), Nancy (b.1855),Lonzo 1880, Walter 1883, Benjamin 1883, Norma 1885, Lorna (Louise?), 1888, Levie 1892, Mary J Downs 1877 apparently with her 2 children Rosie - 1892 and Kelly? - 1897.I am assuming that George L. in 1880 census was actually George Lonzo.
1910- Only George and Nacy show up.

Re:George Henry’s death:I have heard several different stories and haven’t been able to confirm anything yet.I do know that it was a man who lived close by (named Robert N. Baine) and I believe they had been in an argument.Baine came up in George’s yard and shot him "under the heart" while he was standing on the front porch. He died on the way to Guntersville hospital. When I find out more I will be glad to pass it on.
Hope this helps.
