Gilbert listed above is my husband's great-grandfather, James Louis Gilbert,bornOctober11,1835inPike Co., Georgia,diedJune5,1924inMarion,UnionParish,Louisiana.He is buried inConcordCemetery atMarion. JamesLouisGilbertwasaresident ofHamburg, Ashley Co., Arkansaswhen he and hisbrotherRobertjoined the ConfederateArmy. Robertwas killed in a battle in Mississippi.JamesLouiswasatthe siege of Port Hudson. HemarriedMarySabinaEtheridge in Ashley Co., Arkansas duringthewar.Afterthe war, JamesLouisGilbert, hisfather andotherfamilymembersmoved toLouisiana.Hewasthe son ofJames R. GilbertandMaryElizabethBull who married inPikeCo.,Georgiaandthegrandson ofWilliamGilbertbornca1760-1770 inNC or VA,diedbefore1843 inGeorgia (probably in Pike Co. but William also owned land in UpsonCo.).Ibelieve this is the sameWilliamGilbertinMorganCo., Georgia on 1820. Does anyone know thename ofWilliam'swife of hisparents?
