18 Aug. 1781; settled at Pueblo de Los Angeles in September, 1781; first alcalde (Mayor) of Los Angeles

San Luis Ray where he became mayordomo; at San Diego in 1810."(Northrop).
He married Maria Victoria Valdez 8 Nov. 1821. "Calif.
Mission Records #1409".They had a daughter Maria Francisca Vanegas born 1 May 1823 at San Diego.
Maria Francisca married Jose Guadalupe Rodriguez, son
of Agustin Rodriguez and Francisca Acuna 6 May, 1841.
I note you have the birth year of Josefina Rodriguez-Mendoza as 1831.Not possible if parents above did not
marry until 1841.Note that Maria Francisca Vanegas was
born in 1823 and would have been 7 years old when she
had Josefina.
If you want more information E-Mail me.I have knowledge
about Gilberts and Serranos.Mary
