I have a George Washington Gilbert (b. Catlin, IL, Vermillion Co., March 10, 1859, d. May 12, 1938, Stillwater, Ok, Payne Co.)
Married Neta Olive Plummer, April 02, 1886 in Douglas, Butler County, Kansas. (b. Douglas, Poppawatomie County Kansas, June 23, 1868, d. May 07, 1947, Stillwater, Oklahoma, Payne Co.)
I understand that George's father (do not know his name)died of wounds from the Civil War in about 1866/7. His mother married at least 3 times. He did not like his step-mother and moved to Kansas to live with an uncle.)
I've heard from family members that the 1860 census indicates Georges father was born in Indiana. This family was in both OK landrushes.
Would be interested in sibling and ancestors.
