Hi Steve, you have given me some great information. Seems like the Gilberts, Rogers and Coxes are the typical small town helix that defies unravelling! I'll get right to work on it. It makes perfect sense to me that James Gilbert came from Ct around 1811 (it was a time of mass migration from Ct to Ohio which was Ct.'s Western Reserve, usually land bounty for service in the Rev. War) Oral Gilbert family tradition also indicated that there was a "Sir Gilbert of England" involved. So, here is how I am picturing it right now....James Gilbert and several brothers make the trip to Ohio in 1811 as young men. James marries Charlotte Cox sometime in the 1820's and has among others, Ira born in 1831. Another brother marries earlier and has a Charlotte Gilbert born in 1816 who in turn marries your Joseph Rogers in 1835. Maybe another brother, Sylvester Gilbert marries Sally Rogers in 1820. The question is why in 1850 does William Cox aged 74 and Ann Cox agged 55 move in with Charlotte Gilbert and Joseph Rogers? It would make more sense if they moved in with James Gilbert and Charlotte Cox. Charlotte and Ann could be sisters and William could be their father. I apologize for thinking out loud. I will definitely get back to you as soon as I figure this out. Thanks again. Sarah
