Hi, Steve.My information on this comes from "The Gilbert Family, Descendants of Thomas Gilbert..." by Brainard, Gilbert and Torrey, where on page 131 it says that "At the time of her baptism, Jemima is called 'Daughter of the wife of John Williams, Mariner.'She was then about five years of age."Page 130 states that Jemima was "baptized at Fairfield, April 23, 1704; died May 27, 1758; daughter of Martha, wife of John Williams, probably by a former marriage"I always took this to mean that Jemima's father is still an unknown.A few years ago I saw someone who claimed to know who her biological father was, but wasn't able to follow up.I'm still looking for the note, as it may be a legitimate clue.
