Gilbert, Drew & Hunt Families - 1700
Does anyone know of a marriage between a Gilbert and a Drew about 1700? I decend from Gilbert Drew, b 1732. Drew researchers do not know who his parents were, or who his wife, Sarah Hunt's parent's were. There were Gilbert's where ever Drew's are found, and also Hunt's. We believe that the name Gilbert, came from his mother's family name, as the name hadn't been seen in the family prior to our Gilbert. We have been told that Gilbert Drew was grandson to John Drew, b. 1642, married to Hannah Churchill, of Plymonth MA. Gilbert Drew and Sarah (Hunt) lived near Carmel, Putnam Co., NY. He served in the American Rev. with 3 of his sons. He was mentioned in the will dated 1741 of a John Hedger, Worcestor Co. NY, as an apprentice. A David Hunt, John Hedgers "kinsman" was named as an excutor. I did see a posting where Elijah Gilbert, b 1751, Am. Rev. soldier, was son of Rebecca Drew, who was daughter of Samuel Drew and Ruth (Delano).Any help would be truly appreciated, and it would be great to get an email!
